I have always been a bit fuzzy when it comes to time, my attention and focus is easily distracted which is probably why I prefer to paint in silence, undisturbed. In college and my 20s I painted in the night–from 11pm till just before dawn. Now, I try to paint during the day, rising early and going to bed around 10pm–when most are at work or school, the house can be quiet except for the birds.
That is why I was delighted to discover the webpage of past shows on the Hawaii watercolor Society site. Here you can look at the past entrants..where HWS has its members juried show in the spring and its Open juried show in the fall. I was surprised that this show came up so quickly…I used to think summer vacation was a really long time to be free–which I relished–whether up in Makawao at my grandparents’ or at home in Kane’ohe fishing for guppies with my red scoop net in He’eia Stream. Yet, my recollection of all the days in school are a blurry small memory compared to other excursions to parks, beaches, etc.
