Ku’u Kāne’ohe

Ku’u Kāne’ohe

7x10in. Transparent watercolor

The place of one’s birth makes you a child of the land there, no matter if. you are indigenous or the child of immigrants to a new land. Kama’aina, it’s a beautiful word, and for me, it is the Windward side of O’ahu. It’s the starting point of a journey and the familiarity of home, the white hibiscus, red he’e, green kukui, the birds, and the slopes and ridges of the Ko’olau imprints deeply.
